Music is a big part of my every day life. With so much free time on my hand my ipod is always on. With that being said one question that frequently comes to mind is who is the best rapper alive?? With the blue print 3 just dropping the question has become even more debateable. For some it's very simple, Lil' wayne. the source says "Since June 10, when his latest album, Tha Carter III, sold 1,005,545 copies in its first week, he's been the undisputed champ." For some the feeling is not mutual. ""I think that if Lil Wayne is the best rapper alive, that's a slap in the face to not only Jay-Z and Nas — rappers we've seen in our own generation — but Rakim, Kool G Rap, Ice Cube, so many of the torch carriers who have passed us throughout the era" for some the Best rapper alive is the Jay-z. MTV says this about jay-z "Is Jay really not just "the best rapper alive," but the greatest of all time? Just look at what Hov's done for the game: He has headlined several major hip-hop tours and brought along his peers, rapped alongside a Beatle at the Grammys and thugged out Madison Avenue, emphasizing that a rapper's clothing line or brand of sneaker can be successful. Now Jay is proving that a "retired" MC can get focused and rep hard as the prez of major record company."
So take some time out and think...who is really better? and add to the list if you feel someone different is better.

I wonder what makes a musician "the best." Is it how much money he or she makes? How many records sell? How many years performing? How do we measure talent?
ReplyDeleteI think all of those things must be put into consideration. Yet can you measure success?? Does success make you the best? For example Some say Micheal Jordan was he best player ever, but Bill Russell had more championships making him "more successful" than Micheal Jordan. However Micheal did more to revolutionize basketball than Russell.
ReplyDeleteGood point. What is success anyway? Is it happiness? What if you have lots of money, fame, and physical fitness, yet you are unhappy. Are you successful?
